45th Anniversary · 能法劇団 45周年記念公演
Still Here
Noho celebrates its 45th anniversary with Still Here, three Programs of Noho “classics” and new works. In Program B, “Dramaticules” by Samuel Beckett are interpreted in noh, kyogen, and modern acting styles, focusing on his dark, minimalist aesthetics. Program A features our recent adaptation of Yuten Sawanishi’s Subaru-award-winning story, Under an Umbrella, in the Rain, developed during the Covid era, concerning ecological catastrophe and the profound solitude of survivors. Noh masked theatre, nihonbuyo classical dance, and ballet share the stage in Northern Mirror, an original dance-play performed to electric music. Program C attempts an original three-act comedy drawn from the normally short kyogen form, spotlighting the foolish, clever servant Tarokaja.
